Skate Humboldt’s 2018-19 Skating Programs!
CanSkate: Skate Canada’s “Learn to Skate” Program. A fun-filled program where skaters progress while coaches address individual needs of all ages from pre-school to adults. You may choose once or twice a week for lessons.
STARSkate: This program offers opportunities for skaters to develop skating skills in four different areas with the option of taking Skate Canada Tests while earning awards and incentives. Figure skating skills will be taught in private, semi-private or small group lessons in the following areas: Interpretive; Dance; Free Skate; and Skating Skills. There is also a regional competition held during the year that skaters can attend.
CanPowerSkate and Conditioning (Jr. Novice and above): This is a nationally recognised program where students progress as skills are developed. It teaches skating skills and techniques to hockey players in a format that emphasises how these skills apply to game situations. Skaters develop balance, power and endurance. The use of the stick will be integrated in the teaching of skills. For more advanced skaters, puck control is introduced so that they are better able to relate their skills. Drills are designed to reinforce skills taught to improve aerobic and anaerobic capabilities.
